BACK to school time has highlighted another challenge for parents.

An eyeopening survey shows only one in five want to drive their kids to school in private cars.

But an alarming two-thirds are forced to do so because of no viable transport alternatives.

Parents gave their preferred methods of doing the school run as “walking (26 per cent), school bus (20 per cent), public transport (18 per cent), and cycling (12 per cent)”.

The survey shows a growth trend in children cycling to school, with 25 per cent at some point taking their bike, and 12 per cent primarily doing so.
