James’ career has been marked by Wallabies
JAMES Ryan made his Ireland debut as a sub against USA on June 10, 2017.
He had yet to start for Leinster but there was little doubt about his immediate impact, scoring a try with his first touch in the 55-19 win.
Nineteen minutes there was followed by 28 minutes against Japan the following week, which was the precursor to 10 minutes against South Africa and a first start, against Australia, that November.
By the time Ryan had completed starts against France, Wales and Scotland in the spring of 2018 his senior games comprised five Ireland starts, three Ireland sub, five Leinster starts, five Leinster sub.
By season's end he had claimed a Champions Cup and URC winner's medal and was entitled to be considered a near veteran by the time Ireland set out for Australia in summer 2018.
