PASSING OF MEATH LEGEND FAY

MEATH GAA is in mourning following the sad passing of a well-known former inter-county player and star of their Centenary Cup-winning side of 1984.

Trim native Jimmy Fay was the goalkeeper on that team which landed the first silverware the county's most successful manager, Sean Boylan, won during his 23 years in charge.

The Royals’ 0-10 to 0-8 victory over Monaghan was the start of a golden era for Meath football in the 1980s and 90s which saw them win four All-Ireland titles between 1987 and 1999.
