Packet of 20 cigs increases by 50c

THE price of a packet of cigarettes will rise by 50 cent from midnight tonight as the details of Budget 2026 were unveiled in the Dail.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe confirmed the hike - but revealed the price of alcohol will remain untouched.
The 50 cent increase will bring the price of the most popular brands to €18.95 - among the EU's most expensive.
There will also be a pro-rata increase on the duty charged on other tobacco products.
