'Lack of effort' not what Hammers boss meant

UNDER-FIRE Nuno Espirito Santo insists his criticism of West Ham's players was lost in translation.

The Hammers go into tonight’s must-not-lose clash with Nottingham Forest on the back of Saturday's chastening 3-0 loss at bottom club Wolves.

Nuno stated after that match there was a lack of effort from his players, though backtracked on his comments yesterday.

But the former Forest boss did double down on his suggestion that players are not doing what is asked of them when they step on the pitch.

“We didn't do the things we should, all the things we were trying to build around’ he said.
