MacIntyre: I can't compete if I bottle up my emotions

BOB MACINTYRE won't water down the fire which he believes can spark success at The Open this week.

The Scot is hoping to land his first Major when he tees up at Royal Portrush this week.

The fiery lefty admits he sometimes needs an hour after bad rounds to go “mental” and smash stuff up to release his fury. But he won't stifle his anger on the course when he makes mistakes as he believes that is what spurs him on.

“I'm fiery on the golf course when I'm in tournament rounds,” he said. “I'll drop, I was going to say the odd, but a few bad words in there. I'll hit the bag.

“I'll say some harsh things, but that’s what gets me going.
