Leavy is ready to make up for lost time

KIAN LEAVY feared history was repeating itself when he suffered a dramatic pre-season set-back.

No stranger to serious injuries, the St Patrick's Athletic youngster was feeling fitter than ever as he headed off for a training camp in Spain with his Richmond Park teammates.

And then disaster happened, as he suffered an ankle injury during a training session — dealing a blow to the player and to his manager Stephen Kenny.

Leavy knuckled down and with the help of the Pat's medical team, he slowly built his fitness up again and made his first appearance of the campaign as a substitute against Shelbourne in early April.

Three more cameo appearances followed, before he made his first start in the 2-1 defeat to Bohemians.

And he bagged his first goal of the campaign last Friday night, scoring the opener in the Saints' 2-0 win against Galway United, to the delight of his manager and the Pat's fans.
