Ireland sees temps higher than holiday (not so) hot-spot... but it won't last long

- BY CIARA O'LOUGHLIN

ROSCOMMON was hotter than Ibiza yesterday as Ireland enjoyed the hottest day of the year so far.

Beaches across the country were packed as temperatures reached almost 30C in the west.

Mount Dillon, Roscommon, clocked 29.6C, the hottest recording in Ireland of the year so far.

This is over two degrees hotter than holiday hot-spot Ibiza, where maximum temperatures were only 27C.

The good weather comes as revellers are to enjoy themselves at big events across the country this weekend.

Music fans will be swarming to the Phoenix Park tonight for the second of three big concerts from country music star Zach Bryan.

There's plenty happening for sports fans, too, with big hitters like Dublin, Kerry, Galway and Donegal all involved in preliminary quarter final clashes in the All Ireland championships.
