His late winner lit up Tallaght and Brennan wants it to spark pro career in the game to life

- MICHAEL SCULLY

IT'S RHYS LIGHTNING

RHYS BRENNAN wants his dramatic winner for Bohs in Tallaght to be the first step towards a successful career in the game.

Brennan, 18, came off the bench to complete the Gypsies’ remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to bitter rivals Shamrock Rovers, his vital goal coming in the last minute of injury time on Monday.

It was his first in the League, having had a late effort chalked off last Friday against Cork City at Dalymount Park.

"I can’t put it into words, a dream come true," the winger beamed. "Last week my goal was disallowed.

"I just came into this game with the same mindset, ‘Just get your first goal, play the way you normally play, don't overthink it’. It's unbelievable."

Brennan grew up in the shadow of Richmond Park in Inchicore.

“I was a Pat's fan when I was younger and went to a lot of games with my mates,” he grinned.

“Some of them are Pat's and some of them are Rovers, So I'm going to go give them a bit of stick now.
