WE'RE on the phone to Aaron Hill, Ireland's 147 king.
-
ON CUE: Aaron Hill has learned to enjoy the pressure as he reaches on in his impressive career TOP OF THE HILL Aaron Hill and (above) mentor Ken Doherty after winning the title in 1997
“Yeah, they're like buses at the moment; declared the Corkman. “Hopefilly they keep on coming!”
Hill was speaking to Inside Sport while taking a food break after practice in Wigan ahead of Wednesday night's Scottish Open qualifier.
Every week is about grinding on snooker's pro circuit but in, keeping with his best season so far, Hill had won all his qualifiers up to then.
You can't win them all and he went down 4-2 to English opponent Ian Burns in the Robin Park Leisure Centre.
But it is quickly on to the next thing and the 23 year old will take on China's Lei Peifang in the BetVictor Northern Ireland Open on Monday.
“It's mad busy, the calendar this time of year” Hill noted.
It is good to be busy because busy means successful.
Before his midweek defeat he had qualified for the British Open, the English Open, the Xian Grand Prix and the Wuhan Open.
He is gearing up for one of the big marquee tournaments, the UK Championship.
“I felt like it was coming for a while,’ said Hill of this fast start to the new season.
“My game has been good and I can mix it with anyone now, I feel. I've just been showing more consistent results, which is great.
“It's been a long time coming.
“The more experience I'm getting, the better I'm getting. I have a good bit of experience now, but youre always learning in this game.
“It's my sixth year now on the circuit. It doesn't be long going”
He has been making headlines in recent weeks — for making the last 16 and quarterfinals of tournaments, but more so for making two 147s in tournament play in the space of just three weeks.
