GAA chief won't be Mary Lou's 'game-changer'

Fine Gael nominee Heather Humphreys also lodged her nomination papers yesterday.

GAA President Jarlath Burns yesterday ruled himself out of being Sinn Fein's "game-changer" presidential candidate.

The Armagh All-Ireland winner wants to continue in his current role and rejected pitting himself against former Dublin football manager Jim Gavin in the race for the Aras.

There had been renewed speculation about Mr Burns following Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald's comments that the party's participation would be a “game-changer".

It’s expected that Sinn Fein will announce their intentions today but it is unlikely Mr Burns will figure.
