WHAT to do with pets while you're on summer holidays can be a bit of a headache.

Every dog has its holiday..

Whether you bring Fido or Fluffy with you, or whether you leave them to be cared for at home, it can be a worry.

As schools finish and Ireland hits peak holiday season, the experts at Petinsurance.ie have compiled a list of tips to help pets cope with their owners' holidays, whether they're along for the ride or not.

Andrew Simpson, Head of Pet Insurance at Petinsurance.ie, said: "Pets are cherished family members and taking them on holiday is becoming increasingly easy, as more destinations and accommodation providers become 'pet-friendly', even offering beds and treats for our four-legged friends.

"However, if a pet needed urgent life-saving treatment, either whilst away from home or before the trip has begun, we understand that many owners would want to cancel or cut a holiday short."

Routine is important for pets and disruption affects them in different ways, so it's worth carefully considering which route to take.
