ANOTHER BLOODY LUNAR ECLIPSE

Red celestial event set to peak at 5am

EARLY birds will be up before dawn this morning in the hope of witnessing a rare celestial event that won't be seen again for almost four years.

A Blood Moon is caused by the Earth moving directly between the sun and the moon and disrupting the sunlight.

Shorter wavelengths of light (blues and greens) are scattered, while longer, red wavelengths continue onwards to reach the moon. It's the same effect that makes sunsets look red.
