DUBS CAMOGIE STAR MAHER PROUD OF POSITIVE REACTIONS TO SKORT PROTEST

- By DAVID COUGHLAN

AISLING Maher admits she was overwhelmed by the support for Dublin's skort protest earlier this year.

Maher features in Ross Whitaker's new two-part RTÉ documentary which goes behind the scenes during the 2025 inter-county camogie Championship.

The skort issue dominated camogie headlines in early summer and Maher was at the centre of it all with the Blues.

Dublin and Kilkenny players took to the field in shorts for the Leinster semifinal in May.

They were forced to change into skorts before the game could go ahead, but their actions started a movement that made headlines around the world.

The New York Times, BBC and The Guardian all covered the story as it gathered momentum.

Maher describes how her phone blew up with messages of support and media requests after the initial protest.

"It's a little bit overwhelming the sheer volume and quantity of messages," says Maher in the doc.

"And then statements from all the different clubs...

"I can't even get close to reading them all and replying to them all."
