AFTER two nights of thuggery and violence, the protest outside the Citywest asylum hotel took on a different feel on Thursday.

SENDING A MESSAGE Protesters and gardai at Citywest site on Thursday evening

Many of those gathered included concerned locals and people who rejected the anarchy that had seen the Garda riot squads deployed.

We mingled among the crowd as a woman warned a group of teenagers: "If you're here for violence, we don't need it." Protesters then took part in a silent and phone flashlights demonstration and received a number of supportive beeps from cars passing by.
