Star thanks fans for kindness over split with Cat as Late Late returns

EMOTIONAL Patrick Kielty thanked fans for being "so kind" to him and his family, as he returned for his first Late Late Show since splitting with his wife.

In July, the RTE star and his ITV presenter wife Cat Deely confirmed that they called time on their marriage.

Fans were shocked at the announcement as they were together for 12 years and share two boys, Milo, nine, and James, seven.

And Patrick got choked up as he referenced his family in his opening monologue of the Late Late Show last night.

He said: "Honestly, it is so nice to be back with you, especially after this summer where I have genuinely been blown away by all the love and support that has been sent my way.
