'So, all I had was my body ... and that was sellable'

AN IRISH woman has called for more support for young women struggling on the streets as she recalls being left with "black eyes" and broken bones after being forced into sex work.

The woman, who wishes to be referred simply as Angela, turned to prostitution during the homelessness crisis in Cork city.

She said she was “lucky to escape” after some experiences with men and she has been left with significant trauma.

Angela revealed she was sexually abused for a number of years and continues to suffer with the physical and mental impact of the abuse.
