ORCHARD MEN HAD SCORE TO SETTLE
Irish Daily Mirror
|January 27, 2026
WITH his fifth point of the game restoring Armagh's 10-point cushion against Monaghan, Conor Turbitt had no intention of slowing down.
Neither did any of his teammates.
The message from the Armagh sideline was clear - don't let up.
The Orchard County would hit the Farney for a further 1-5 in the final quarter with Turbitt (left) ending the game with 0-6 from play with Andrew Murning plundering a stunning last-gasp goal to round off a polished performance from the 2024 All-Ireland champions as they claimed a 1-27 to 0-18 win. They avoided falling through the Division One trapdoor last year with their round two win over Tyrone proving to be their safety net.
Turbitt said scoring difference was very much in their minds as they eased to a comprehensive 12-point defeat of Monaghan in Clones.
"It is massive. I think we stayed up last year on seven points and only for the head-to-head," said Turbitt.
