WHITE House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed a new report that indicated US President Donald Trump is considering replacing FBI Director Kash Patel after he inspired a series of "unflattering" headlines in recent weeks.

Patel, a fierce Trump loyalist, has faced mounting scrutiny lately due to what critics describe as an abuse of his position for personal protection and comfort.

A self-described whistleblower on social media discovered that Patel used a government jet for a "date night" with his girlfriend, who was performing in the Pennsylvania neighbourhood of State College.
