Pete Waterman on only tellling the truth on new Simon Cowell show

- BY MARC BAKER

IT has been 22 years since Pete Waterman was Mr Nasty on Pop Idol alongside fellow music mogul Simon Cowell.

And as he prepares to reunite with his old showbiz pal for new six-part talent show, Simon Cowell: The Next Act, the talent-spotter says he has not mellowed with age.

Pete, 71, says of his upcoming appearance on the new venture, which launches on Netflix on December 10: "I am not kind. You have to tell it how it is. You have to tell the truth."

Waterman remains passionate about music and lavishes praise on his ex-protege, Kylie Minogue, 57, and Harry Styles, 31, who found fame on X Factor in One Direction.

He says: "I like Harry. You can put him on the front of anything and he has got so many followers. He has got a great image.

"One Direction were a phenomena and what Simon did there, nobody had done before. They brought in this whole marketing thing which was not there in our day.
