Grieving parent Jackie tells court daughter was 'not happy' before her alleged murder

THE mother of an Irish woman allegedly murdered by her partner during a Spanish holiday broke down in tears yesterday at the start of his trial.

Jackie Ward said she had a bad feeling about her daughter Kirsty's sunshine vacation with Dubliner Keith Byrne.

She told the trial court in the east coast Spanish city of Tarragona: "I could tell as her mother when she left that there was something not right.

"I said to my sisters, 'I really wish she wasn't going away this week and I don't know why I said that'.

"But I know she was not in a good place and she was not happy."
