Boxer opens up on 'tough' US move to start pro career

BOXING legend Katie Taylor said moving to the United States was the bravest thing she's ever had to do - inside or outside of the ring.

The Bray boxer, 39, spoke with former US Ambassador to Ireland, Claire Cronin, at an event hosted by the Irish American Partnership yesterday.

The sporting icon, who became the undisputed lightweight champion of the world in 2019, spoke about her career highlights and the setbacks, which she said, there are more of than people would ever know.

She noted that one of the most challenging points of her life came as she made the difficult decision to leave everything she knew and move across the Atlantic after going pro.
