THE woman who tragically lost her life in a horrific collision involving a car and a lorry has been named.
Aoife Lennon, 38, was driving when her car collided with a lorry on the N2 in Castleshane, Co Monaghan, around 2.45pm on Wednesday.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Aoife, a resident of Derrynoose, Co Armagh, and wife of a local Garda officer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A postmortem will be arranged in due course. No further injuries were reported.
Sinn Fein Councillor Niamh McCooey spoke to The Star about the “close-knit community's” shared “collective grief that words can scarcely capture”.
