Officers to check for sex allegations, Claims girl flown here for 'notable men'

- PAUL HEALY Crime Correspondent

GARDAI are assessing if they have received any referral or complaint to investigate disturbing claims made in the Epstein Files.

The Irish Daily Star has learned there is no Garda criminal investigation into any claims made in the files about alleged sex trafficking to Ireland.

But officers are now understood to be examining whether they have ever received any correspondence or referral to investigate claims that have only publicly come to light in recent weeks.

It is understood gardai are assessing if they were ever in any way notified of claims, but as of now there is no active investigation going on, and no known criminal complaint.

The development comes amid concerns over a particular document contained within the large tranche of Epstein files on the US department of Justice website an email, which was allegedly sent to an agent at the FBI, that claims a young female was taken "to Ireland for politicians and notable men".

In the email, a Threat Intake Examiner at the FBI's National Threat Operations Center stated a woman told him she was "reporting an allegation of being a victim of human trafficking involving Jeffrey Epstein".
