IRA man Rowan reveals vicious brawl

- PAUL HEALY

'Dowdall was giving me the evil eye sol walked out to the landing & went hell for leather at him'

IRA man Shane Rowan has opened up about a vicious brawl he had with State witness Jonathan Dowdall behind bars.

In the third and final part of our bombshell interview with the man who was caught with the AK-47 rifles used in the Regency Hotel hit, Rowan revealed how his relationship with Dowdall turned sour behind bars and into a full-on fight encouraged by killer Derek Del Boy’ Hutch.

Donegal native Rowan was serving his sentence for possession of firearms and IRA membership when he ended up on the same prison landing as Dowdall, who was coming to the end of his sentence in 2019 for torturing a man.

Rowan told us: He was giving me the evil eye. I just thought to myself, Y'know what I've just had enough of you, little dipstick. I've just had enough of you:

“So I walked out the landing and I just went hell for leather at him. I just boom-boom. He got me in a wee judo move on the ground and were kind of rolling around’ This paper is today publishing details of an independently verified copy of the P19 disciplinary form that Rowan was handed by authorities over the brawl.
