WHILST many of us may enjoy putting up our Christmas decorations, new research suggests that this fun, annual festive activity could be responsible for helping to spread seasonal illnesses.

The findings of real-world swabbing tests indicate that many of the decorations tested returned readings well above the normal range of biological contamination that hygiene experts would consider typical for household objects or surfaces.
