Anti-corruption unit raids key Zelensky aide

UKRAINIAN President Volodymyr Zelensky was in crisis last night after his chief of staff resigned.

Andriy Yermak 54, quit his top role shortly after anti-corruption officers raided his home and office in the Kyiv government's headquarters in the early hours of yesterday.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office are probing a €85million energy sector corruption scandal thought to involve top Ukrainian officials.

Mr Yermak insisted he was doing what he could to help the agencies, saying: "From my side there is full cooperation. The investigators are facing no obstacles."

Mr Yermak's spokesman Oleksii Tkachuk said the agencies had not served the chief of staff a "notice of suspicion", meaning that he was not actually a suspect. He added that Mr Yermak had not officially been told what the searches related to.
