Major bureaucratic reshuffle: 66 IAS and IPS officers transferred in Delhi and other Union Territories

As many as 66 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the Agmut cadre were transferred from Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and other Union Territories by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, according to an order issued Friday.Among the 66 bureaucrats, Delhi saw the highest number of transfers with 21 IAS and 23 IPS officers, who have been shifted from Delhi or transferred back to the Capital from other Union Territories.

It is the first major bureaucratic reshuffle after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in Delhi after 27 years.

Among the 21 IAS officers, 11 senior officers, including Ashish Chandra Verma, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, have been transferred out of Delhi. Verma, a 1994-batch officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (Agmut) cadre, held the principal secretary level posts in several key departments like Finance, Revenue, Home, Irrigation, and others. The Indian Administrative Service officer was also the finance and divisional commissioner and ACS of the Revenue department.
