At Bihar hospital where rape victim died waiting for treatment, 2 top officials are suspended

Two days after the death of a minor rape survivor at Patna Medical College Hospital on Sunday due to alleged delay in treatment, the deputy superintendent of PMCH, Dr Abhijeet Singh, who was in charge on the day of the incident, has been removed from his post citing “administrative failure”, while the superintendent of Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur, Dr Kumari Vibha, has been suspended, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said Tuesday.Pandey said that the action has been taken based on preliminary investigation.
“The victim was treated at two facilities — first at SKMCH in Muzaffarpur, then at PMCH in Patna. I was out of Patna, but upon returning last night, I held discussions with senior officials, gathered all details, and directed a high-level inquiry. A team led by three Directors-in-Chief — Dr. Aryan Chaudhary, Dr. B.K. Singh, and Dr. Pramod Kumar — has been formed to investigate the events at both SKMCH and PMCH,” the minister said.“In the initial findings, Dr. Kumari Vibha, the superintendent of Muzaffarpur Medical College, was found to have failed to discharge her duties properly and has been suspended. Similarly, Dr. Abhijeet Singh, the deputy superintendent and in charge at PMCH that day, has been removed from his post for administrative failure,” the minister said. The minister said the team is investigating the sequence of events
