Selles has to roll the dice

THE maths are fairly simple for Hull City. Win and they will be safe, lose and they will be relegated.

- By BARRY COOPER

For Ruben Selles, it presents him with one final opportunity to seal City's survival after seeing his players pass up numerous opportunities into recent weeks.

Every time Selles' squad have had the chance to take a big step towards safety, they've passed up the opportunity. Some would say they've bottled it.

Perhaps that phrase and the connotations that go with it in football is too strong for the time being.

But it's not unreasonable to suggest they've not had the ability within the dressing room to beat the likes of Stoke City, Cardiff City, Luton Town and now, Derby County for clarity, all games against relegation rivals that they've lost in recent weeks, all bar Stoke were 1-0 defeats. When the pressure and expectation were there, the chance to take care of their own destiny, they came up short.
