Prop Watts closes in on return to Black and Whites line-up against Huddersfield

HULL FC prop Liam Watts could make his long-anticipated return against Huddersfield Giants on Saturday.

The 34-year-old has been out since March with calf and knee injuries but is closing in on a return.

The prop has trained strongly this week and is keen to get back out on the field, having signed a deal in February until the end of the season.

His only appearance so far was against Wakefield Trinity, with Watts injuring his calf in training and then his knee in what has been a frustrating period.

But the double Challenge Cup winner is now hopeful to feature again this week - playing his role as Hull continue their playoff push with eight rounds of the season to go.

"There's a chance he's available for selection this week," Andy Last said in Hull's pre-match press conference.

"We haven't finalised the squad yet, but the way he trained today, he'll certainly be pushing the conversation in regard to the 17.
