FOCUS HAS TO BE ON FINAL THREE GAMES

- By BARRY COOPER

Few could argue that things at Hull City have unravelled spectacularly since the sacking of Liam Rosenior just days after last season ended with a 1-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle.

A campaign full of promise ultimately ended with City missing out on the play-offs; their exciting young team had one shot at promotion and couldn't quite achieve it.

But the club felt united and going in the proverbial right direction, even if things below the surface were beginning to become frayed.

Cracks had clearly formed in the owner-manager relationship, which led to Rosenior's demise, while Tan Kesler's journey to the exit door was beginning to gather pace, even if he wouldn't move on for another few months.

It was an exit that surprised few within the corridors of power at the MKM Stadium, some of whom have become increasingly surprised by a recent PR charm offensive by the former vice-chairman, who left under a cloud that still circles above.

Following a thrilling 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town in their final home outing, Rosenior and owner Acun Ilicali took the applause from a fan base reinvigorated by a season which saw City challenge at the top end of the Championship for the first time since they won promotion to Premier League in 2016 via that iconic play-off final win at Wembley. Mo Diame. Sheffield Wednesday. And all of that.
