Humber Rescue come to aid of boat drifting helplessly

A BOAT drifting without power was towed to safety with the joint efforts of Humber Rescue and a local sailing club. At around 7am on Sunday morning, the skipper of the boat raised the alarm.

Humber Rescue volunteers were tasked by Humber Coastguard to respond to the 'pan-pan' alert, which is an urgent radio call similar to 'mayday' but used for when people are not in grave danger. The boat had lost engine power and was drifting outside the navigational channel near Winteringham Haven.

As Humber Rescue arrived at the scene, the vessel was found to be aground with two people onboard. They were both safe and well.
