VISIT A NATIONAL TRUST PLACE NEAR YOU THIS HALF TERM
-
WITH warm spring days and May half term approaching, day trips and family adventures are on the cards for many of us.
Spend your day out with the National Trust and you'll be helping the conservation charity to look after each place for more families to enjoy in the future.
Here are the top places for days out with the kids in the North East and Yorkshire...
NORTHUMBERLAND
Wallington, Cambo
Embrace the fresh countryside air on the family-friendly Dragon cycle trail at Wallington. If you prefer to wander, try the river walk - a circular route that takes about an hour to complete. Look out for dippers and kingfishers as you cross the stepping stones. Don’t miss the four play areas including a play train, wooden fort, adventure play area and Little Acorns nature play space.
Seaton Delaval Hall, Seaton Sluice
Find wonder indoors and out at Seaton Delaval Hall. Discover the intriguing Mirror and Dark Matter Cubes in the gardens and let imaginations go wild in the Delaval Playdium woodland play area. Venture into the central hall, basement and west wing, where creative installations bring the Delaval family home to life. Bring a picnic, grab drinks, snacks and ice creams from the Summerhouse, or head down to the Brewhouse Café for lunch.
TYNE AND WEAR
Gibside, Rowlands Gill
Escape into nature on the edge of Newcastle at Gibside. It’s a great place for exploring, walking and wildlife spotting. This May, get the whole family involved in garden games, learn about bird ringing and get crafty with art. Conquer Strawberry Castle play area, take on the low ropes challenge and build dens in the West Wood.
Souter Lighthouse & The Leas, Whitburn
