Eight-week absence for Wigan's French

WIGAN Warriors will be without Bevan French for eight weeks with a calf injury.

Confirming the club's worst fears, head coach Matt Peet had already aired French's absence for Saturday's clash at Castleford Tigers, but now a clearer understanding of the injury has come to light - and it's not good news.

French played against Wakefield the Friday before last but missed the narrow win against Huddersfield Giants with another calf issue.

However, Peet reaffirmed the latest blow is an unrelated injury, albeit in a similar area.
