Briscoe: My 100th try proud moment
Hull Daily Mail
|August 13, 2025
I came at the sixth time of asking, but Tom Briscoe is now a proud Hull FC try centurion.
And when you look at the names he's sitting alongside - Jamie Shaul, Richard Horne, Johnny Whiteley, Kirk Yeaman, Ivor Watts, Clive Sullivan, to just name a few - it's not bad company at all.
Briscoe now has his name amongst FC royalty; not that the 35-year-old has deviated away from his modest self. Crossing over against Salford during Sunday’s 80-6 victory, his first point of reference was the pride felt. The second was to Zak Hardaker.
In stellar form all season, Hardaker put the try on a plate, as he so often did when the duo were at Leeds Rhinos. It was an old formula rekindled and for Briscoe, who crossed for his 99th try, also against Salford, seven games ago, it was a sentimental moment.
“I’ve known about that one for a number of weeks now and I've kind of just been hovering over it,’ Briscoe told the Mail.
“At one point I didn’t think 1 was going to get over today either. It's a proud moment, obviously, to achieve all those accolades and score all the tries, but if Zak didn’t make the break and pass me the ball, then I don’t score. I'm just proud to have done that for the club.
