Top CRPF officials review security prep for polls in Maoist-hit Bastar

Top officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) reached Chhattisgarh from New Delhi last week to review the security arrangements in the state ahead of the assembly polls.
Chhattisgarh will go to polls in two phases. The first phase of voting in the state will be held on Tuesday. Twenty seats are going to polls in the first phase - of which 12 seats fall under the Maoist-affected Bastar division.
According to officials aware of the matter, at least 432 polling booths have been added this year to the 2018 tally of 23,677 booths in the state, after the government took back control of over two dozen areas hit by leftwing extremism (LWE) over the last five years.
