Two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) went missing from the Kishtwar district of Jammu on Thursday with an offshoot of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claiming to have killed them and security forces launching a search operation to trace the two men.

There was no official statement from the J&K Police on the matter till going to print.

According to officials, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, both residents of Ohli-Kuntwara, took their cattle for grazing in the Munzla Dhar forest in the morning, but did not return. They said police parties were searching for them.

"We have received information that my brother along with Ahmad was abducted and killed by terrorists. They were VDGs and have gone for grazing cattle as usual," news agency PTI quoted Kumar's brother Prithvi as saying.
