Pooran, King dominate before lightning break

Windies duo puts together 105-run partnership in response to India's total of 165 in the final T20 in Lauderhill

India were in a fair bit of trouble in the fifth and final T20I against West Indies at Lauderhill, Florida before lightning and rain brought play to a halt on Sunday.

Electing to bat, India put 165/9 on the board. In reply, West Indies were cruising at 117/1 after 12.3 overs before the cricket was stopped. Play remained suspended at the time of going to press.

Brandon King (54 off 38) and Nicholas Pooran (46 off 32) had put their team in control of the proceedings while India's bowlers struggled to make an impact. Earlier, India's batting effort was once again all about the brilliance of Suryakumar Yadav (61 off 45). On a sluggish pitch where the slower balls were used to good effect, Hardik Pandya's team lost the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (5) and Shubman Gill (9) early.

They recovered well through Surya and Tilak Varma (27 off 18) to reach 66/2 after 7.4 overs before the latter was dismissed courtesy a brilliant caught and bowled by Roston Chase.
