Modi slams Oppn in poll pitch for MP, Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit the campaign trail in the two poll-bound states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, saying that a "double-engine (government) means double development" in the first, and hitting out at the Congress-led regime in the second.

Speaking at a public meeting in Gwalior, the PM said, "These anti-development people are trying to prove that nothing has happened in the nation." Earlier, at a rally in Chittorgarh, he said that Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has already conceded defeat by asking him not to scrap the welfare schemes started by the Congress in his state.

JAIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has "accepted defeat" in the upcoming assembly elections by asking him not to halt the welfare schemes introduced by the state government.

Modi assured that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not discontinue but only improve the public schemes if the party is voted to power in the state, even as Gehlot said that the people are aware that the initiatives are "safe" under the Congress government.
