LeT operative linked to Ganderbal attack killed

A terrorist affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba and allegedly involved in an attack near a tunnel construction site in Gagangir in October was killed in an encounter with security forces in Dachigam forest area of Srinagar on Tuesday.

LeT operative linked to Ganderbal attack killed

Following specific inputs, security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the upper reaches of Dachigam on Monday night, officials said.

The search operation turned into a gunfight after terrorists fired at the security forces who retaliated.

Army's Chinar Corps in an update said that they established contact with the militants during the searches. "On 02 Dec 2024, based on specific intelligence input, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and J&K Police at upper reaches of Dachigam forest, Srinagar. During search, initial contact was established," it said in a post on X.

In the exchange of fire on Tuesday morning, the terrorist identified as Junaid Ahmed Bhat, was killed, the officials said.
