An ode to the bansuri through Kathak, Chhau

Any talk about Lord Krishna is sure to lead to his revered flute. But, do you know how he came to be called bansriwala? This and other facets of Krishna Leela come alive in the upcoming dance drama, Radha Krishna Ki Bansuri.
"The audience will witness Lord Shiva gift Krishna the iconic flute when they meet in Gokul (Mathura, Uttar Pradesh)," says Punita Sharma, Kathak danseuse, who plays Radha in this choreography by her. She adds, "Krishna holds the bansuri close, even closer than Radha. But, before leaving for Dwarka, he leaves his bansuri in Radha's care... On reaching Dwarka, Radha sees another version of Krishna-one who wields the Sudarshan chakra- and asks, 'Prem se alag hokar tumne kya khoya?'"
