Six people were arrested on Saturday for allegedly branding a 50-year-old woman as a witch and then tying her to a tree and torturing her for two days in Bundi district, officials said.
According to Hindoli deputy superintendent of police Ajit Meghwangshi, a self-proclaimed exorcist and his aides allegedly labelled the woman, identified as Shahpura resident Nandubai Meena, as a witch and tortured her to "free her from an evil spirit".
