We Kiwis Often Punch Above Our Weight: Kerr

It's no surprise Mumbai Indians (MI) returned to winning ways in the Women's Premier League (WPL) after Amelia Kerr came to the party with the ball, a five-wicket bash which she celebrated by putting on the Purple Cap on Thursday.

MUMBAI: (Three bowlers have since edged ahead by one wicket, but Kerr has a shot at regaining the top spot in Monday's home game against Gujarat Giants here at CCI.)

It's also no surprise that Kerr said she enjoyed being asked to open with the bat, a shift from her usual No.5 spot.

"Being an all-rounder is the best way to play cricket," Kerr tells HT. "It's a lot more fun."

And in having all that fun, Kerr has developed into one of the finest all-rounders in the world. The 24-year-old, labelled a "once-in-a-generation player" by fellow Kiwi star Sophie Devine, has driven teams to glory with her crafty leg spin and classy batting.
