Relief swept through Jamshedpur on Monday evening as water levels in the Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers began to recede below danger marks—even as concern persisted with the IMD's Ranchi office issuing a red alert for West Singhbhum and an orange alert for East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan for Tuesday, after declaring that Jharkhand had recorded its highest June rainfall in 11 years, officials said.

JAMSHEDPUR:

According to the Ranchi IMD, the administration and residents of East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts should be prepared for intermittent heavy rains, and those in West Singhbhum must remain on high alert. An update from the East Singhbhum district administration stated that the water level in the Subarnarekha River had fallen to 121 meters—below the danger level of 121.50 meters—at Mango Bridge around 5:30 pm, while the water level in the Kharkai River had decreased but remained above the danger level at 130.09 meters against the danger level of 129 meters at Adityapur Bridge.
