Shah calls for ‘Team Bharat’ spirit as states flag concerns

Union home minister Amit Shah chaired the 27th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council here on Thursday, attended by Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, his Odisha counterpart Mohan Charan Majhi, Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary, and West Bengal finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, besides senior officials of the member states and central government.

The Eastern Zonal Council comprises the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. The Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Union ministry of home affairs, in collaboration with the Jharkhand government, organised the meeting.

In his address, Shah praised the Armed Forces for their valour, precision, and bravery during Operation Sindoor, following which the Eastern Zonal Council unanimously adopted a resolution expressing gratitude for their courage, a statement by the Press Information Bureau said.

Speaking about the host state, Shah said the land of Jharkhand has contributed significantly to the country’s freedom struggle, with many great freedom fighters, including Bhagwan Birsa Munda, leading movements from this land.
