Congress slams BJP for ignoring ‘ground issues

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) media cell in-charge Satish Paul Munjni on Sunday accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of limiting themselves to listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and not speaking on the ground realities of Jharkhand.

His remarks came after the BJP issued a press statement highlighting the mention of Gumla district farmer Om Prakash Sahu in the 124th episode of Mann Ki Baat, a monthly radio programme through which Prime Minister Modi addresses the nation.

“Sometimes the biggest light emerges from where darkness has spread the most. One such example is the Gumla district of Jharkhand. There was a time when this area was known for Maoist violence. The villages of Basia block were becoming deserted. People lived in the shadow of fear. There was no possibility of employment, lands were lying vacant, and the youth were migrating. But then, a very calm and patient beginning of change took place.
