Assault case: Journos protest delay in arrest of Cong leader; hearing on bail plea starts

Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Virendra Kumar Tiwari, on Thursday heard the anticipatory bail plea filed by acting district president of Congress, Rashid Raza Ansari, along with five of his family members, in connection with the alleged assault on journalists on April 17.
DHANBAD: The court directed police to produce the case diary and injury report before deciding on the bail pleas.
The petition for bail was moved by advocate Shahbaz Salim on behalf of the accused, which include Ansari's two sons — Kaif Ansari and Saif Ansari — and his three brothers — Mannu Ansari, Shahid Ansari, and Rafijul Ansari. Advocates Abhay Bhatt and Jitendra Kumar opposed the plea, representing the complainant, press photographer Mohd. Shahid, and other affected journalists.
