River linking project to provide 3,309 MCM water to Raj: Centre

The Ramjal Setu Link Project, formerly known as the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal (Modified PKC) link project, will provide 3,309 million cubic metres (MCM) of water to Rajasthan and 1,886 MCM to Madhya Pradesh annually, Jal Shakti ministry told the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

The Jal Shakti ministry informed the Upper House of Parliament in a reply to an unstarred question of Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari.

The Ramjal Setu Link Project aims to boost water availability for drinking, industrial, and irrigation purposes across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The project aims to provide irrigation in six lakh hectares and drinking water to 36 districts in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh—21 in Rajasthan and 15 in MP, according to the agreement signed by the two states with the Central government.

Tiwari had asked about the details of the agreement between the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh concerning the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP); and the specific regions in Rajasthan that would benefit from the ERCP.
