Expedite judicial infra growth: HC

The Rajasthan high court, while hearing a batch of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) concerning judicial infrastructure, on Friday expressed displeasure over delays in development and directed the state government to promptly address key issues, including administrative and financial sanctions, revised approvals, land allotment for court buildings, advocate chambers, parking facilities, and litigant shelters.

The court further emphasized the need for the timely release of funds and ordered the government to submit a compliance affidavit within four weeks.

The matter was heard by a division bench comprising justice Shree Chandrashekhar and justice Chandra Shekhar Sharma, who observed that despite repeated directions, the government had failed to take concrete steps to improve judicial infrastructure. During the hearing, advocate General Rajendra Prasad informed the court that, as per its November 28, 2024, order, the government was supposed to file a consolidated affidavit after consultations with all relevant departments. However, due to the ongoing state assembly session, the meeting could not be convened. It was now scheduled for April 1, 2025, with officials from the state government and representatives of the high court.
